What you should know before you start.
What Modellsatz is, and what it is not
- Is Modellsatz an official exam?
- No. Modellsatz is practice material in the boards' format. A result here is not an official certificate and is not recognised by any authority, university or chamber. You sit the actual exam at a licensed test centre.
- Is Modellsatz part of the Goethe-Institut or telc?
- No. We are an independent provider and are not affiliated with the Goethe-Institut, telc gGmbH or ÖSD. We name the exams only to describe which format we reproduce.
- Are the tasks from real exams?
- No, and that would not be allowed: the boards' model sets and exam tasks are protected by copyright. Every text and task here is newly written, along the published format description.
Marking
- How are reading and listening marked?
- By comparison with the stored answer key. No language model is involved: the same answers always give the same score, the result is instant, and for every wrong answer you see the place in the text.
- How reliable is the marking of writing and speaking?
- It is an estimate, not a grade. We state a margin with every score. Until we have published a comparison against texts marked by teachers, that margin is deliberately wide. We claim no accuracy we have not proven.
- Where do the marking criteria come from?
- They are derived in our own words from the boards' published marking schemes. We do not reproduce the boards' criteria catalogues verbatim.
Access and pricing
- Do I need an account to practise?
- Yes, a free one. It keeps your answers and results even when you close the browser. The first complete practice exam costs nothing with that account.
- Does my access renew automatically?
- No. Level access ends by itself after 90 days. There is no subscription and no automatic charge.
Something still open? The guides hold the longer answers.
